EVERYTHING HAD BEEN UNUSUALLY PLEASANT FOR THEM IN SCHOOL THAT DAY.
AND LISA HAD BEEN THE LAST ONE OUT IN HER CLASSROOM SPELLING BEE.
TAD HAD HIT A HOME RUN TO HELP HIS TEAM WIN THE SOFTBALL GAME,
THEY WERE SO HAPPY IT WAS ALMOST FUN FOR THEM TO WALK HOME FROM SCHOOL TOGETHER. THEY COULD TELL EACH OTHER ABOUT THEIR WONDERFUL EXPERIENCES.
WITHOUT A CARE IN THE WORLD, WITH EVERYTHING BEING SO PERFECT, THEY WERE IN THE MOOD TO TAKE A CHANCE JUST FOR THE FUN OF IT.
AND... AS THEY APPROACHED THE GATE LEADING TO THE WILK’S HOUSE, TED BLURTED OUT BEFORE HE EVEN REALIZED WHAT HE WAS SAYING.
I BETCHA I AM THE ONLY BOY IN MY CLASS NOT AFRAID TO KNOCK ON OLD MAN WILK’S DOOR.
AFTER ALL, ONLY BABIES BELIEVE IN GHOSTS.
O
NE BRIGHT SPRING DAY, WHEN THE SUN
WAS SHINING AND THE BIRDS WERE SINGING, TAD AND LISA HAD A SPECIAL ADVENTURE.
AS SOON AS THE WORDS HAD BARELY CLEARED HIS MOUTH, HE KNEW HE HAD MADE A
BIG MISTAKE.
L ISA WASN’T GOING TO LET HER BROTHER GET AWAY WITH ACTING SO BRAVE WITHOUT DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
I DARE YOU TO KNOCK ON THE DOOR!
OH YEAH?
T
WELL,I DOUBLE DARE YOU TOO!
AD WOULD HAVE TO KNOCK ON THE DOOR NOW, OR HIS SISTER WOULD TELL ALL HIS
FRIENDS WHAT A CHICKEN HE WAS. AND
IF TAD WENT, LISA WOULD HAVE TO GO ALONG OR HER BROTHER WOULD SURELY SAY THE SAME ABOUT HER.
