CROPS RAISED ON THE FARM
WERE TAKEN TO TOWN EACH SATURDAY AND WERE SOLD OUT OF THE BACK OF THE CAR.
PREPARING FOR SATURDAY WAS A MAJOR EVENT.
IWOULD SHELL
BUTTERBEANS . . .
...PICK CORN
FROM THE FIELD FEELING EACH EAR TO MAKE SURE IT WAS TENDER . . .
. . . AND HELP LOAD UP
THE CAR WITH FRESH MILK, BUTTER, VEGETABLES, EGGS, CHICKENS AND ANYTHING ELSE WE COULD SELL.
AFTER MAKING OUR ROUNDS DELIVERING TO CUSTOMERS, WE WOULD RETURN ABOUT 2:00 IN THE AFTERNOON. WHAT MONEY WE COLLECTED WAS PUT IN A MASON JAR.
GATHER

THAT MONEY WAS SAVED FOR STAPLES THAT WERE NOT RAISED, SUCH AS SALT AND SUGAR, PLUS CLOTHES, FEED, AND OTHER NEEDS.
